Davis Bertans is a Latvian basketball player who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association. He is also known as the “Latvian Laser” and plays for the Latvian national team.
Bertans was selected 42nd overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2011 NBA Draft, but his rights were traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
Bertans played for many teams in Latvia and Slovenia before making it to the NBA. He began his career with ASK Kadeti II in 2007-08 before moving on to BAA Riga from 2008 to 2010. During this period, he also played at the top level with ASK Riga and BK Keizarmezs Riga.
Bertans then joined BK Barons for the 2010-11 season before joining Slovenian club Union Olimpija on a multi-year contract in November 2010. He left Olimpija in January 2012 and signed a contract with the Serbian club Partizan Belgrade.
